HOW IT WORKS


Subscribing Online

  1. Enter your 10-digit mobile number.
  2. Click Submit.
  3. Once you have entered your mobile number, you will receive a text message on your mobile phone with a 4 letter validation PIN code. Enter the PIN online.
  4. Click Submit
  5. The Subscription page appears. Here you have the ability to check or uncheck provinces you wish to subscribe to.

Modifying a Subscription
In order to modify your subscription, you will need to enter your 10-digit mobile number and confirm using the four-letter validation PIN code. Once this process is completed, you will then be presented with a page where you have the option to update your selected provinces.

  1. A list of currently activated provinces will appear with associated checkboxes.
  2. To modify your current subscription, select the associated checkboxes to add a new province and unselect the associated checkboxes to remove an existing province. All provinces may be selected by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking the “Click here to select all locations” link.
  3. Click Save to accept your changes. A message will appear that your settings have been saved successfully.

Unsubscribing from the Service
To unsubscribe and/or stop wireless alerts, you will need to enter your 10-digit mobile number and confirm using the four-letter validation PIN code. Once this process is completed, you will then be presented with a page where you have the option to cancel your subscription.

  1. A list of currently activated provinces will appear with associated checkboxes
  2. To unsubscribe from your current subscription, unselect ALL checkboxes.
  3. Alternatively, you can send the keyword STOP to 26237 (AMBER) at any time from your mobile phone.

Subscribing with Your Wireless Device
Most customers can follow these instructions to subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alerts using their wireless device.

  1. Send the keyword AMBER (or amber) to Short Code 26237 (AMBER).
  2. You will be asked whether you would like to receive alerts in English or in French. Reply with either EN or FR.
  3. You will receive a link to a mobile site where you can pick which provinces you would like to subscribe to.

Modifying your Subscription Using Your Wireless Device
Follow these instructions to change the regions/provinces that you previously entered, using your wireless mobile phone.

  1. Send the keyword AMBER (or amber) to Short Code 26237 (AMBER).
  2. You will be asked whether you would like to receive alerts in English or in French. Reply with either EN or FR.
  3. You will receive a link to a mobile site with your previously saved settings. To modify your current subscription, select the associated checkboxes to add a new province and unselect the associated checkboxes to remove an existing province. All provinces may be selected by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking the “Click here to select all locations” link.

Cancelling a Subscription Using Your Wireless Device
Follow these instructions to cancel a subscription to Wireless AMBER Alerts using your handset.

  1. Text any one of the following keywords to the Short Code 26237 (AMBER):
    STOP
    ARRET

  2. You will then receive a short text message confirming your cancellation.

    Example: "At your request, you will no longer receive messages from Wireless AMBER Alerts. Thank you for your participation!"

Do not forward the Wireless AMBER Alert message.
Forwarding the text message can cause confusion. The person you are forwarding the AMBER Alert text message to will not know that this was an official AMBER Alert message. Also, the recipient will not receive update messages and the cancellation message automatically.
